Now that the Pfizer vaccine has FDA approval students are required to submit proof of vaccination or agree to regular COVID testing. LSU President William Tate IV said 78 students have yet to file paperwork and they face expulsion.
Those 78 students who did not comply with the school’s vaccine mandate where told in an email that they would not get a full tuition refund.
“This email is to notify you that you have been resigned from Louisina State University and provided a 50% refund due to failure to comply with LSU’s Entry Test Verification procedures,” said the email.
The deadline to resubmit and complete the registration is tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 17.
President Tate met with President Biden and the COVID Response team Tuesday afternoon and briefed them on the school’s multi-tiered approach of COVID mitigation and vaccination requirement. LSU was the only university that attended the meeting and Tate said the President was interested in how the school’s approach changed vaccination rates.

“What we saw and each time we added a requirement the vaccination numbers went up to our current status of 82% of our student body being vaccinated and 72% of our faculty and staff,” said Tate.
Tate said Biden was interested in how the school moved the needle when it came to vaccination rates and there’s a reason LSU was asked to attend the meeting.
“If you juxtapose LSU’s vaccination rates with the surrounding community, or the state of Louisiana, or other SEC schools, LSU finds itself at the top,” said Tate.
“99.999% of our population is compliant with the requirements and I’m very comfortable saying that I think we’ll be able to get across the finish line with the remainder of the students we have,” said Tate.
LSU was one of the first schools in the country to require either proof of vaccination or a recent COVID test to attend football games on campus.
