The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office says they have an arrest warrant out for Seattle Seahawks defensive end Aldon Smith for an alleged battery over the weekend.
The sheriff’s office says Smith allegedly assaulted an acquaintance outside a business in the 8600 block of West Judge Perez Drive on Saturday.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau identified the suspect as Smith says St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann. Smith now faces a second-degree battery charge.
On Monday the Seattle Seahawks released a statement on social media saying, “We are aware of the reports regarding Aldon Smith. Aldon notified us and we are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time.” Smith was the defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys before signing with Seattle in mid-April. The investigation is ongoing.
