It’s unclear whether a Lafayette area parade-goer was trying to amuse or rile up MMA star Dustin Poirier with a homemade sign, but the latter option was what he achieved.

The former UFC Lightweight Champion was serving as grand marshal of a parade in Youngsville in honor of his community service with his The Good Fight Foundation and his decorated fight career when a man in the crowd held up a sign that read, “Hey Dustin, your wife’s in my DMs.”

The man had previously shown the sign to someone shooting video at the parade, and the line referenced a crude remark that another UFC star, Conor McGregor, made to Poirier at a press conference after a 2021 fight in which McGregor broke Poirier’s leg.

A video that has since gone viral on social media shows the man approaching Poirier’s car as it drives by and showing him the sign, then seemingly offering to shake Poirier’s hand.

Poirier slaps the man’s hand away angrily.

At that point words are exchanged, though what was said isn’t discernible since the video does not include audio from the scene. The man responds by flipping the bird at Poirier, which causes Poirier to briefly attempt to exit the vehicle for a confrontation.

The others in the vehicle seem to stop him from getting out and the car continues down the parade route.

A tweet sharing the video footage has been viewed over 1.4 million times in the last two days.
