The beleaguered New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board is the focus of a meeting today with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry's taskforce looking into the struggles draining flood waters and keeping clean water coming out of taps.
It is the first of three meetings the panel will hold before issuing reccomendations on how to provide reliable power to drainage pumps and effectively get safe drinking water to homes and businesses.
It come amid a series of flooding events, power and pump failures and several boil water advisories.
Today's focus is on how the board is run.
The taskforce is made up of four gubernatorial appointments along with the Department of Transportation and Development, Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, and Department of Environmental Quality each making one appointment.
The Governor’s appointees are Paul W. Rainwater, Ryan R. Berger, Lynes R. “Poco” Sloss and William Vanderbrook.
DOTD Secretary Joe Donahue, CPRA Chairman Gordon Dove and DEQ Secretary Aurelia Giacometto are also on the taskforce.
