Mardi Gras revelers awaiting the Pygmalion Parade’s arrival in the downtown area will have to wait a few minutes longer than anticipated because a parade float became caught in a tree.

According to multiple social media posts, the Pygmalion Jester was decapitated by the limb of an oak tree hanging over the parade route.
That crash, according to one tweet, happened near the intersection of Magazine and Jefferson.

Another tweet showed a rider falling off the float after it collided with the tree. However, the person who originally posted that tweet said the rider was okay.

According to WWL-TV’s Erica Ferrando, the parade was delayed for about 30 minutes after the jester lost its head

Some on social media poked fun at the incident and some of the other incidents that have happened so far during this Carnival season. One tweeter even used the Pygmalion incident to poke fun at another current event.
