Interim New Orleans Police Superintendent Michelle Woodfork is one of six people up for the job of running the NOPD on a permanent basis, WWL-TV reports. the other five are from out-of-town.

According to WWL-TV, the other five are:

-Jared Phelps, Prince William County, VA

-Thedrick Andres, chief, Henderson County, Nevada

-Deshawn Beaufort, Philadelphia Chief of Detectives

-David Franklin, Chief of Staff, Albuquerque Police

-Anne Kirkpatrick, Chief of Police, Oakland

The International Association of Chiefs of Police helped the city narrow down a list of 33 applicants for the job.

"The semi-finalists will participate in a two-day Assessment Center on July 20-21 in New Orleans," the mayors office announced last week. "The Assessment Center will allow IACP to evaluate the semi-finalists based on essential competencies required for effective police agency leadership."

Each candidate will interview with Mayor LaToya Cantrell and other senior members of the administration. The mayor will make a selection, and the appointee must appear before the New Orleans City Council for the city's first confirmation process, approved by voters in the fall of 2022.
