Police in New Orleans are investigating a shooting that happened early Thursday morning.
“Around 2:48 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 5400 block of North Rampart Street. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male victim suffering from an undetermined number of gunshot wounds,” said police in a report.
The victim was transported by EMS to the hospital.

According to New Orleans City Council's Crime Dashboard, non-fatal shootings doubled compared to last year. Year-to-date, there have been two non-fatal shootings in the area.
