The New Orleans Street Renaming Commission presents its final report today on renaming streets, parks, and other public places that are currently named after Confederate figures or people who otherwise supported white supremacy.

Dozens of names of streets, parks, and other public places are subject to change, because their current names honor Confederate figures or people who supported segregation. In addition to Lee Circle being renamed Leah Chase Circle, or perhaps Mardi Gras Circle, Robert E. Lee Boulevard in Lakeview is up:

"The current suggestion is Allen Toussaint Boulevard," said commission chairman Karl Connor.

The members of the commission been working on it since June, when the city council created the commission as protests took place around the nation, including New Orleans, over the deaths of unarmed black people at the hands of police.

The committee issues its report this afternoon at 3 p.m.
