
While New Orleans is in the midst of a flash flood warning, the Sewerage and Water Board is once again experiencing a failure that could put some of the city’s residents in danger.
According to the SWB’s Twitter page, Turbine 4 has gone offline amid the heavy rain inundating the city.
“Turbine 4 has been taken offline for a potential mechanical failure,” the SWB’s tweet reads. “Turbine 5, frequency chargers and EMDs are being utilized.”
The tweet goes on to say that “pumps are running.” Still, the SWB warns of possible localized street flooding because of the heavy rain in the area.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines Parishes until 9:30 p.m.
