Add this to the list of reasons why teachers deserve more praise.

While breaking up a brutal fight between two boys in her classroom at a Louisiana high school, a tenth-grade teacher was sucker-punched in the face.

The interaction was caught on camera and showed the terrifying moment the Chalmette High School teacher was hit so hard that her glasses flew off her face.

After being hit, the teacher let out a yell and can be seen in the video holding her head in her hands as the boys continue to throw blows at one another.

Other students in the class can be heard yelling, "Stop it!" and "you broke her nose," trying to dissuade the boys from fighting. Eventually, two other students stepped in.

The teacher was assisted by students who went to get school officials. After her classroom was secured and the boys restrained, she was taken to get medical treatment.

The school has since confirmed that the teacher sustained bruises and swelling to her face from the incident, but she did not suffer a broken nose, as some students yelled out in the video.

The school also confirmed they suspended the two boys, and it is demanding that a criminal investigation into the incident be done.

Doris Voitier, the district superintendent of Chalmette High School, shared in a statement to the DailyMail that she was "appalled" after watching the video.

"Our teacher shouldn't be involved in an environment like that, and our students should have ways to settle their differences," Voitier said.

Voitier continued, saying, "Charges have been pressed against these students for their deplorable actions."

"As we always do in such situations, we are working hand-in-hand with the St. Bernard Sheriff's Office with the mutual understanding that behavior like this will not be tolerated in our schools," she said.
