The third named storm of the 2025 season formed Saturday morning east of Georgia.

Chantal is not forecast to become the season's first hurricane before the storm makes landfall Sunday, most likely in the Carolinas.

As of 7 a.m., Chantal was barely moving, drifting north at a meager two miles per hour. It is expected to take a slow turn to the north-northwest later Saturday.

Forecasters expect Chantal to dissipate over land as its remnants move north-northeast early next week.
