In an incident that Acadia Parish authorities called a “senseless act of cruelty,” two donkeys were found shot, with one of the animals dying from the injury.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on the discovery urging people to come forward if they know who committed what they called a “cowardly act.”
The donkeys were discovered on the morning of April 17 on Soldier Road near Mire.
The animals were on the property where they were being kept.
An older model truck seen in the area on the night of April 16 is considered a possible vehicle of interest, and shots were heard in the area that night.
