After turning around what could have been a horrendous season for the LSU Tigers, Head Coach Brian Kelly was not named the SEC Coach of the year in 2022.
Voters for the Associated Press looked elsewhere for the honor, with Kelly being beaten out for the award by one vote as Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel took home the achievement.
The Tiger's offense also went without proper recognition as no players for LSU made the AP All-SEC first or second team.
However, LSU did win other honors, with defenders BJ Ojulari and Harold Perkins being named to the AP All-SEC first team. Defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo was named to the second team.
LSU started the season with a heartbreaking one-point loss to Florida State before winning its next four games. However, the team also delivered a heartbreaking one-point loss when the Tigers took down Nick Saban and Alabama in a game-of-the-year over time ending.
Despite losing to Georgia in the SEC Championship, the season isn’t over for the Tigers as they will go on to play Purdue in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, on Jan. 2, 2023.
