The Heisman award winner is announced this weekend, and for the second time in four years, an LSU Tiger is the favorite.

It took a while to get Daniels moving up the list of Heisman favorites. WWL Sports' Jeff Palermo says Daniels' Heisman prospects really took off after the Florida game.

LSU was coming off a loss to Alabama, a game where Daniels was sidelined after a blow to his head.

"What does he do after being in concussion protocol and practicing on a limited basis? He has one of the greatest games in college football history against Florida," said Palermo. "He threw for over 350 yards and rushed for over 200 yards."

And after that performance stepped on the gas for Daniels' Heisman buzz, LSU began a campaign to raise his profile even more.

"I mean, LSU's marketing machine went into overtime, especially after the regular season finale and knowing (Oregon quarterback) Bo Nix and (Washington quarterback) Michael Penix were going to play in one more game," said Palermo.

The Heisman trophy gets awarded Saturday night.
