Dr. Oz doesn’t trust Dr. Fauci: ‘It’s time for a new face talking to the American people’

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for 37 years. But if TV’s “Dr. Oz” has his way, Fauci would not just be shown the door but also prosecuted for lying to Congress.

Television personality/medical entrepreneur Mehmet Oz has launched a campaign for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, vying for the soon-to-be-vacated seat of retiring Republican Pat Toomey, and he believes Fauci’s message has begun to fall on deaf ears.

“Dr. Anthony Fauci has lost the faith and confidence of the American people,” Oz told The New York Post. “It’s time for a new face talking to the American people, one that is more trusted. I believe Anthony Fauci should be held accountable for misleading, whether willfully or unintentionally, the American public and the United States Congress.”

Conservative pundits and politicians have pounded Fauci as of late over his testimony before Congress that the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the organization that runs the NIAID, did not bankroll gain-of-function research at China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology, the facility where some believe COVID-19 was created.

The NIH corrected Fauci following his appearance on Capitol Hill.

Despite some Republicans’ distrust, Fauci remains the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden.
