Sometimes even the sneakiest of thieves find themselves in an untenable situation, especially the furry four-legged ones.

That was the case in the early morning hours of July 13 in Painesville, Ohio, when police had to step in and help a “masked bandit” out of a precarious situation.

Responding to a “distress call,” officers were greeted by a raccoon who had gotten its entire head stuck in a mayonnaise jar.

In a video posted to Facebook by the Painesville Police Department, one officer can be seen restraining the animal at the end of a long pole while the other works the jar off its head.

A police intern was also on hand and had to jump out of the way when the animal darted towards him once it was freed and released.

“Police intern Gill added a little hop to his step,” the PPD playfully wrote in the video’s caption.

The video has gone viral with over 17,000 views so far.
