DuBos: Bond commission's 'reckless and dangerous' move

A reckless move for the sake of scoring political points -- that's how political analyst Clancy DuBos describes the state bond commission holding up a $39 million line of credit for the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board.

The vote came at the urging of Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, and during the debate, Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin, Louisiana's top elections official, said New Orleans' mayor and city council should be impeached.

"This is a really reckless and dangerous move for the bond commission," said DuBos. "It goes beyond politics they are punishing the people of New Orleans because of what the council and the mayor and the D.A. decided to do with their own discretionary authority...Police and DA's in every parish, in every county and every city and every jurisdiction in the United States of American have discretionary authority."

DuBos says the bond commission is using unrelated matters just to score political points, but holding up infrastructure that would provide New Orleans with more reliable storm protection is putting people at risk.

"The people of the city of New Orleans, all of the people regardless of how they feel about abortion, are dependent on the Sewerage and Water Board for adequate drainage," said DuBos. "Every minute that (the substation) is delayed is an endangerment to every person who happens to be in New Orleans, including Jeff Landry and Kyle Ardoin when they do come to New Orleans to eat good meals and have fun and raise money."
