Scoot: Amid Tucker's exit at Fox, viewers should demand more honesty and integrity

Fox News' top-rated personality, Tucker Carlson, is no longer with the network. There are reports he was fired, and the way Fox News handled his departure suggests those reports are correct.

Carlson signed off his show Friday night saying he would be back Monday night and as early as Monday morning the network was still running promotions for his show - so we know that whatever happened, it happened today, and quickly.  When a network does not let you say "goodbye" to your audience - it's usually because you are being fired.

The departure of Tucker Carlson comes days after Fox News settled the mega lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million.  Was eliminating Carlson from the Fox News line-up part of the settlement, or was it because of the settlement?  Or was it in anticipation of the lawsuits still to come? Carlson is currently facing a lawsuit from a former producer alleging harassment in a highly sexist, toxic work environment. Could Fox have fired Tucker in anticipation of the discoveries to come as that case proceeds?

I pointed out on the show today that removing Tucker Carlson for his lying and hypocrisy was justified, even if he was the top-rated personality.  Anyone who uses the credibility and privilege of being on millions of TV sets every night to deliberately lie to their audience is unacceptable, and affects the already damaged image of the media.

Tucker Carlson was punished and held accountable for feeding the audience rather than leading the audience. Every radio and television talk show host should take note, and hold themselves to a higher standard.
