LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron has notified the State Senate Committee on Women and Children he will not testify before them in person. Orgeron instead released a statement in lieu of testimony.

Gloria Scott, 74, told the committee last month that former LSU running back Derrius Guice sexually harassed her, and said Coach Orgeron had contacted and asked her to accept Guice's apology.

"I was deeply upset when I watched the video of Ms. Scott's testimony, as it was the first time that I heard all of the details of her encounter with Mr. Guice," Orgeron said in his statement. "I am devastated that she was talked to in such a vulgar and inappropriate manner."

Orgeron says he called a number given to him by a member of the athletic department to try and reach Scott, but instead, a man answered the phone. Orgeron said he did not speak directly to Scott.
