The state of Louisiana hit an unwelcome milestone today -- more than 500,000 confirmed or probable coronavirus infections in Louisiana residents.

Of the 501,494 total cases, 421,122 have been confirmed through PCR testing.
Overall new cases today number 1,546, nearly 14 percent of today's reported 11,052 tests. Public health officials have said during the pandemic that they want percent-positivity below ten percent.
Sixty-eight more people went to the hospital for treatment of COVID-19, bringing the total to 779 -- the most since February 20. Twenty more people have died from COVID-19.
