After a long streak of daily declines, the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients increased slightly in today's report from the Louisiana Department of Health. There are 989 people in the hospital for the disease, up five from yesterday's report.
LDH reports 1,031 new cases today, and 54 new COVID deaths.
In all, 738,613 cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed since the pandemic began in 2022. 13,850 Louisianans have died from the disease..
Gov. John Bel Edwards today extended the indoor mask mandate through October 27.
