Hurricane Ida had strengthened to a Category 4 storm overnight as it was set to slam into the Louisiana coast, with severe impacts expected for New Orleans and a majority of south Louisiana.
The storm is expected to make landfall at some point Sunday afternoon, with sustained winds upward of 100 mph likely to impact New Orleans. The storm is also projected to head north through Louisiana with forecasters expecting as much as 20 inches of rain in some areas, along with potentially devastating storm surge.
