Stormy weather is moving across Louisiana, and it will get to New Orleans ahead of this evening's parades.

"This evening is when the city and our parades will need to watch for rain," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. "Overall, I'm optimistic it won't be a complete washout with terrible weather, but it still looks like scattered showers with a few t-storms will move in after 6 pm or so."

He says the rain will be on and off all night.

"The severe risk and flooding potential are low on the southshore, but a few storms are still possible during parading hours."

Malone says this is all ahead of a cold front.

"When the parades start temperatures will be in the mid 70s, but by the time Muses ends temperatures will be falling into the low 60s and upper 50s."

Things clear out overnight.

"By Friday morning we begin to dry out as colder, drier air move in. Friday will be chilly and breezy in the low 50s. Friday evening for parades will be colder in the 40s with a breeze. We could see a light freeze Saturday morning on the Northshore and MS."

Malone says we won't see temps back in the 60s until Sunday.

"Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras appear dry, but warmer and more humid, especially Fat Tuesday with only a stray shower and a high near 80°."
