
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Six firefighters were treated for exhaustion and dehydration and 48 residents were displaced by a six-alarm five in Paterson, New Jersey.
No residents were hurt in the fire on Summer Street.
The blaze extensively damaged four two-story homes which stand about two feet apart.
Paterson Fire Chief Brian McDermott said, “It’s extremely humid and it’s causing rapid dehydration of our individuals, we’re making sure that we have plenty of water on the scene to rehydrate and we added a couple of extra alarms to this fire, adding about five or six extra companies from neighboring towns to assist us assure that we can rotate all of our personnel effectively.
The Red Cross is assisting those displaced.
