VIDEO: 1 arrested after man beaten with bat in unprovoked attack on Brooklyn street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One man is under arrest after a video that shows a bicyclist being beaten with a bat in an unprovoked attack on a Brooklyn sidewalk surfaced, officials said Thursday.

On Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m., the 54-year-old victim was riding his bike in the vicinity of Flatbush and Parkside avenues in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood when he was attacked, according to police.

A bystander stepped in to end the fight, officials added.

Ashanti Robinson, 46, is facing assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon charges.

Officials believe the two men were strangers and the attack was random.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in critical but stable condition with cuts and swelling to the head. authorities said.
