2 killed, 4 injured in 5-car crash on Garden State Parkway

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- There were two people were killed and four hurt in a five-car crash on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey on Wednesday night, officials said.

According to State Police, 57-year-old Sandra Vanderslice was driving a Chevrolet Suburban headed south at around 8:30 p.m. in Clifton when she lost control, ran off the left side of the road, struck a concrete barrier, and overturned.


The Chevy Suburban ended up on the northbound side of the toll road and struck a Cadillac XT-4 and a Toyota Camry, a Nissan Altima, and Volkswagen Passat.

Vanderslice and Maxim Viscio, 29, a rear-seat passenger in the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said.

The driver of the Toyota was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The driver and two passengers in the Volkswagen suffered moderate injuries while the drivers of the Cadillac XT-4 and the Nissan were not injure, officials said.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
