VIDEO: Driver arrested after leading cops on chase on NJ Turnpike: reports

FLORENCE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A driver was arrested Friday evening after leading police on a chase on the New Jersey Turnpike, according to reports.

WCBS-TV reports the incident began around 5 p.m. in New Brunswick when the driver was involved in some kind of traffic accident and refused to stop.

The news organization added that the driver continued on for about 20 minutes.

WABC-TV reports about a dozen police cars were seen chasing the minivan in the southbound lanes of the turnpike, before the driver came to a stop in the area of Exit 6 in Florence.

New Jersey State Troopers approached the vehicle with guns drawn, according to WABC.

Both outlet reports the driver was taken into custody.
Charges were not immediately released.

WABC-TV noted that a small dog did escape the vehicle during the stop, but troopers were able to catch up with the animal before it got into harm’s way.

No other details were available.
