Conn. allocates $40M to 25 hospitals to support COVID-19 response efforts

HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut is allocating $40 million to more than two dozen hospitals to bolster their COVID-19 response efforts, Gov. Ned Lamont said Thursday.

Twenty-five acute care hospitals will receive funding from the state's Coronavirus Relief Fund, Lamont said in a press release Thursday afternoon.

Yale New Haven Hospital is set to receive the largest allocation, with approximately $6,884,263 heading to the medical institution, the release said.

Danbury Hospital and Day Kimball Hospital will receive around $3,258,853 and 2,883,521, respectively, the second- and third-highest amounts.

"This funding recognizes the frontline role Connecticut's hospitals and their dedicated employees have played throughout this pandemic," Lamont said in a statement.

"It is not an overstatement to say that this role has been heroic, and continues to be indispensable as we all work together to defeat the virus," he added.

A full list of the hospitals set to receive funding is available on the state's website.
