Connecticut reports 55 new COVID-19 deaths; hospitalizations rise by 45

HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut reported 55 new COVID-19-related deaths on Thursday as the number of people hospitalized with the virus rose by 45, Gov. Ned Lamont said.
The 55 new fatalities brought the state's COVID-19 death toll to 5,791, Lamont said in a tweet.
As of Wednesday night, 1,200 Connecticut residents were hospitalized with the virus, up by 45 from Tuesday, he said.
Of the 37,549 COVID-19 tests that came back in the state on Wednesday, 2,038, or 5.43 percent, were positive, he added.
