TAMPA, Fla. (1010 WINS) — A father and daughter from Illinois miraculously survived being struck by lightning after a Yankees spring training game in Tampa last Saturday.

Ashley Moberg and her father, John, were visiting Tampa for the first time together to see a Yankees spring training game at Steinbrenner Field when they were struck by lightning in the parking lot after the Yankees vs. Braves game, according to Tampa Bay-affiliate CBS 10.
"It's indescribable," John, 74, said.
Ashley told ABC 7 Chicago about the moment lightning struck them.
"There was a bright flash and a loud boom that I heard, and the next thing I knew, I was flying out of my shoes and my ears were ringing," the 19-year-old said. "I thought my dad was dead for about 10 seconds there while I was lying on the pavement trying to figure out whether I had died."
John hit the ground and broke his cheekbone, though he initially feared he had suffered a stroke.

"I wake up with my face in the mud, my feet laying in the parking lot and I cannot move anything," he said. "I can't even pick up my face out of the mud. I thought I had a stroke."
Ashley suffered a burn line from the necklace she wore during the terrifying incident.
The two were eventually taken to Tampa General Hospital, where they were kept under observation for the next few days.
"It could have been a lot worse," Ashley told CBS 10. "We're very lucky."
The Yankees have promised to make up for ordeal, reportedly offering them free tickets to one of their Chicago games against the White Sox in May and an autograph from fielder Aaron Judge — long-desired by Ashley.
