The dramatic save happened Wednesday at East Orange Community Charter School when the 9-year-old student tried to drink from his Poland Spring water bottle, ABC 7 reported.

The third-grader, Robert, couldn’t twist the cap off with his hands so tried to do so with his teeth.

“Then I was squeezing it a little and then the water pushed the cap to my throat,” Robert told ABC 7. “I was going to the sink trying to cough it out and I couldn’t so I ran very quickly to Ms. Jenkins.”

Robert’s teacher, Janiece Jenkins, acted quickly, performing the Heimlich maneuver after he ran toward her pointing to his neck.

“He can’t talk so then I just turn him around and I perform the Heimlich maneuver and here we are,” Jenkins said.
