Survey: 55% of Manhattan's office employees will still work remotely by September

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Only 10 percent of Manhattan's office workers have returned to their workplaces since the COVID-19 pandemic began — and less than half are expected to return by September, according to the results of a new survey.

The Partnership for New York City surveyed "major employers" at the end of February and the beginning of March "to project how long Manhattan's one million office workers will continue to work remotely," the nonprofit organization said in a press release.

The survey found that only 45 percent of Manhattan's office employees are expected to return to work in person by September, down from the 48 percent projected this past October.

Fifty-six percent of Manhattan's office employees, meanwhile, "will continue to work remotely at least part of the time," the release noted

Employees who return to their offices "will rely on public transit," and business travel "will permanently decline," it added.
