NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday that the city will have its first parade upon reopening in July to celebrate front-line and essential workers.
"It's time for a parade to celebrate our heroes," de Blasio said.
The "Canyon of Heroes" ticker tape parade honoring New York City pandemic frontline workers will be held on Wednesday July 7, according to de Blasio.
The event will be called "The Hometown Heroes Parade."
"You name it. All the essential workers who made it happen. Everyone who kept it together in New York City and brought us back," he added.
