NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A building in Harlem was evacuated after a gas main fire sent flames shooting out of several manholes nearby, but no one was injured, authorities said.
The fire started near West 114th Street and Seventh Avenue around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, the FDNY said.
Con Edison and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection shut down the gas main soon after, the department said.
One building nearby was evacuated and several streets were closed, but no one was injured and no power outages were reported, the FDNY and Con Edison said.
It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the blaze. An investigation is ongoing.
