Man threatened to stab undercover NYPD officer, told him to 'go back to China': police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Manhattan man was arrested and charged with a hate crime after he allegedly threatened to attack an undercover NYPD officer and told him to go back to China, according to police and a report.

The officer was standing near West 33rd Street and 7th Avenue around 1:20 p.m. on Friday when Juvian Rodriguez, 35, approached him and started threatening him, the NYPD said.

The Asian-American officer, who recently joined the NYPD's Asian Hate Crimes Task Force, was undercover at the time, the Daily News reported.

"Go back to China," Rodriguez told the officer, according to the NYPD.

Rodriguez also threatened to slap and stab the officer, the NYPD said.

Rodriguez, who lives in Chelsea, was arrested and charged with hate-crime harassment, hate-crime menacing, aggravated harassment and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

His attorney information wasn't immediately available Friday.
