NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday that as tourism returns to New York City, the goal this summer is to get hotel occupancy to 80 percent.
According to the mayor, occupancy at hotel rooms was at 72 percent last weekend.
De Blasio called this another encouraging sign that the city is emerging quicker than expected from the pandemic.
Last month the mayor announced that the city's 5.875 percent hotel room occupancy tax rate will be temporarily eliminated for a three-month period starting June 1.
