Mount Sinai Hospital cancels COVID vaccine appointments due to 'changes' in supply

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Manhattan hospital was forced to cancel five days' worth of COVID-19 vaccine appointments due to a supply shortage, according to a report.

A spokeswoman for Mount Sinai Hospital told the Daily News the center canceled vaccination appointments scheduled between Friday, Jan. 15 and Tuesday, Jan. 19 “due to sudden changes in vaccine supply.”

“We will inform our patients when more vaccine supplies become available and reopen vaccination appointments for eligible patients,” the spokeswoman said. “For anyone with appointments scheduled after Tuesday, we will provide updates as soon as we know more.”

A source told the outlet Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx also canceled a number of upcoming vaccine appointments, but did not say why they were canceled, with an official saying there were “no supply issues.”

Mayor Bill de Blasio earlier this week warned that the city could run out of COVID-19 vaccines “in two weeks or so” if it doesn’t receive a larger supply.
