NYCHA custodian exposed himself to, sexually abused acquaintance: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An off-duty NYCHA custodian was arrested after he allegedly exposed himself to and sexually abused a female acquaintance, the NYPD said.

Leighton Phillips, 44, was arrested and charged with forcible touching, public lewdness and third-degree sexual abuse in Brooklyn Wednesday morning, police said.

Police say Phillips was walking up the stairs behind a 43-year-old woman he knew inside an apartment building in Clinton Hill when she turned around and saw that he was exposing himself.

Phillips then pushed the woman up against the wall and threatened to rape her, the NYPD said.

When the woman shoved him away and continued up the stairs, he slapped her backside, police said.

Phillips' attorney information wasn't immediately available Thursday.

A NYCHA spokesperson declined to comment on the arrest, citing the ongoing police investigation.
