NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An Ohio man carrying an unloaded semi-automatic rifle, ammunition and a gas mask was arrested inside a Times Square subway station on Friday, according to police and a report.

The man was arrested inside the A/C/E station Friday afternoon after NYPD officers noticed him taking the rifle out of his bag and placing it on the floor of the station, a senior law enforcement official told WNBC.

The officers took the man into custody after questioning him, police said. Several law enforcement sources told the outlet the man is an 18-year-old named Saadiq Teague.

The man claimed he was carrying the weapon because it was legal for him to do so in Ohio, according to the outlet.
