De Blasio outlines preliminary timeline of COVID-19 vaccine's NYC distribution

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio on Wednesday outlined a preliminary timeline for the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine in New York City.

The Pfizer vaccine is expected to arrive as early as Dec. 15, while the Moderna vaccine is set to arrive as early as Dec. 22, de Blasio said at a news briefing.

The city will post vaccine information on the city's website, nyc.gov/COVIDVaccine, as it becomes available, he said.

The first batch of vaccines will be distributed to nursing home residents and staff, followed by health care workers.

Asked if prominent figures such as former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani or President Donald Trump would be able to skip the line, de Blasio said they would have to wait their turn.

"We will not allow people who have privilege to jump the line," he said. "Their time will come."
