Schools open on Wednesday, but positivity rate inching toward 3% still: de Blasio
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Tuesday that New York City schools will remain open on Wednesday as the positivity rate remains below the 3 percent threshold that would trigger a shutdown.
"Another day that we stay below that threshold because of everything you have done," de Blasio said.
Daily indicators show that the infection rate 7-day average at 2.74 percent up from 2.57 percent the previous day.
New mobile testing units will be set up at NYCHA Marcy Houses as well as NYCHA Cypress Hills in Brooklyn with new rapid testing locations in Woodside, Queens and in Staten Island.
The mayor also noted that more people are getting tested with over 300,000 tests done last week.
With the holidays quickly approaching, the mayor said there won't be enforcement on limits to family gatherings, but the Sherriff's office will enforce penalties for large parties, functions.
