NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A gunman fired into a moving train in Queens and a rider was shoved onto the tracks in Times Square in a violent half-hour span in the subway system overnight, police said Thursday.
The transit violence left both victims with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on a southbound A train at the Beach 67th Street station in the Rockaways.
An 18-year-old man was inside a train car when a gunman fired into the train from the platform, striking the victim in the leg, police said.
The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is expected to survive.

The motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately known. The suspected shooter remained at large Thursday.
Trains bypassed the station in both directions for several hours overnight as the NYPD investigated.
About a half-hour later, a man was on a platform at the Times Square–42 Street station around 10 p.m. when someone pushed him onto the tracks for unknown reasons, police said.
A good Samaritan quickly helped the man back onto the platform.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
Police said a person was taken into custody by officers at the scene.
Transit crime is up 53% year over year. And assaults on officers are up 55% this year as the NYPD increases enforcement in the transit system.
Asked about the latest crimes, an MTA track cleaner told 1010 WINS, “That’s pretty much normal.” A station booth clerk said he felt unsafe even inside his compartment.
Riders also weren't surprised when asked about it Thursday, with one woman saying she has accepted it as the new “normal.”
“It's always concerning,” one man said. “But what do you do, you live in New York.”
“I’m shocked,” another rider said sarcastically.
