Man, 22, wanted in connection to hoax bomb incident at Queens mall surrenders to police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man believed by authorities connected with a hoax device left in a stolen Tesla parked outside Queens Center Mall surrendered to police early Tuesday, officials said.

According to officials, 22-year-old Louis Shenker surrendered at 3 a.m. in Brooklyn after calling 911.

Charges against him are pending, officials said.

According to WABC-7, Shenker has been wanted by NYPD and federal law enforcement after committing acts of harassment and general so-called right-wing mischief in New York City.

Shenker had allegedly discussed traveling to Georgia for Tuesday's Senate primary, the report adds.

Numerous emergency vehicles were called near Queens Place Mall over a suspicious vehicle at approximately 8:30 a.m., on Monday following reports of a suspicious package.

The NYPD's Bomb Squad gave an "all clear" to the "hox device" spotted on a suspicious vehicle and also rescued a dog after it.

"Suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of the Queens Place Mall. Expect numerous emergency vehicles & traffic delays," NYPD Special Ops tweeted.

Police also evacuated the Queens Place Mall over a car with a small can-like object attached to it.

The incident may have been an intentional hoax.

Officials asked people to avoid the surrounding area.
