NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The day a teen girl who was shot in the head has been looking forward finally came Friday as she was released from a hospital to a huge ovation from friends, family and police.

Kyla-Simon Sobers-Batties, 16, was hit by a stray bullet Oct. 1 while in a Boerum Hill park, according to police.
EMS rushed Sobers-Batties to a hospital, where she underwent surgery and was in a medically induced coma for a few days.
And now as she left Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Friday, her smile shined through the second she came out the door.
“I feel happy! I feel amazing! I would never expect this to happen to me, but it feels good to still be here,” Sobers-Batties told CBS2.
The Cobble Hill High School of American Studies student said she doesn’t remember much from the incident. But she’s learned a lot.
“It kind of sucks, but it also taught me that certain things are going to happen, but you just have to continue on going,” Sobers-Batties said to CBS2. “I’m going to celebrate my birthday with my brother and mom, and then after that, back to school and having my senior picture taken. So I’m very excited.”
Sobers-Batties will spend two weeks in a rehab facility before heading home, according to the report.
And her mother Nadine Sobers, just days after telling the outlet she wanted to “curl into a ball and scream” as her daughter fought for her life, was grateful.
“Thank you guys so much for everything, all the prayers,” her mother Nadine Sobers said. “We love you guys.”
A GoFundMe for the family more than doubled the set goal of $10,000.
Police earlier this month released images of three suspects wanted in connection to the shooting. According to police, the three men fled the scene on Citi Bikes.
