NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a driver who they say ran a red light in the Bronx, sparking a violent crash that he then fled in another car.

The NYPD released video Saturday of the crash, which happened at E. 222nd Street and Boston Road in the Williamsbridge section last Sunday morning.

Police said the man they're searching for was driving a gray Audi sedan when he ignored a steady red light and struck a Honda SUV at 1:30 a.m.

A 20-year-old man driving the Honda suffered internal injuries, police said. A 19-year-old woman in the passenger seat suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to Lincoln Hospital in unknown conditions.

After the crash, the man driving the Audi exited the car, got into a silver Audi sedan and fled southbound down Boston Road, police said.

NYPD video shows a man climbing out of a wrecked car and getting into another vehicle.

Police believe the suspect is in his 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
