VIDEO: Woman charged after allegedly stealing postal truck, crashing into 12 cars in Brooklyn joy ride

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman was charged after police say she stole a postal truck in Brooklyn and went on a joy ride that left a trail of destruction on Friday evening.

Martha Thaxton was charged with burglary, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, motor vehicle violation (no license) and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Police said she is homeless.

The 21-year-old stole the U.S. Postal Service truck near Fulton Street and Patchen Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 6 p.m., according to police.

Thaxton drove a little less than a mile before crashing into a parked car on Fulton Street, near Throop Avenue, police said.

Video obtained by the New York Post shows officers pulling a woman from the truck after the crash.

The truck crashed into at least 12 vehicles, sources told 1010 WINS. Citizen App video shows multiple vehicles damaged in the area.

No injuries were reported.

A USPS spokesperson told WABC that all the mail on the truck was secured.
