NJ middle school teacher charged with sexually assaulting teen: prosecutors
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey middle school teacher has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl, according to prosecutors and a report.
Harry Wyatt, 53, of Piscataway, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault, one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child on Christmas Even, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's office and the Piscataway Police Department said in a joint release.
Wyatt is a teacher at Leonard Moore Middle School in Roselle, the release said.
Wyatt "knew the victim personally and not through his role as a teacher," NJ.com reported, citing court records.
In a statement provided to the outlet, Roselle School District Superintendent Nathan Fisher said the district "has a strict policy of confidentiality regarding personnel matters, and in view of the fact that this issue is a personnel matter, I am unable to provide any additional information at this time."
"Nevertheless, please rest assured that the district will cooperate with law enforcement if called upon to do so," he added.
Wyatt's attorney information wasn't immediately available Wednesday.
