Drive-by shooter fires pellet gun into crowd of Trump supporters, injuring 2 women in Ft. Lauderdale

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two women attending an outdoor Trump rally in Fort Lauderdale Friday were injured after someone drove by and shot pellet rounds into the crowd, according to police.

The women were treated on the scene, the Sun Sentinel reported.

Eyewitnesses told the Miami Herald that a Porsche SUV approached the crowd of 50, who congregated near the Coral Ridge Mall, and began shooting as they sped by.

"I felt like I had been hit in the head with a rock, and when I touch my forehead, it was just gushing," Evelyn Alvarez, one of the victims, told WSVN. "Then they shot one of the other ladies in the shoulder and just kept going. I can't stand in the street corner with my husband and with like-minded friends without being shot at, this is unacceptable."

Alvarez added, "I didn’t come out here looking for trouble," "I came out here with a flag to support my president. We were having a peaceful rally to show support for our president, just out here flag waving with our signs."

After the shooting, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office had about a dozen officers at the scene for a short time before leaving, the Miami Herald reported.
