Boy tries to stab 2 cops after throwing brick at LI home: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A boy tried to stab two police officers who responded after he threw a brick at two Long Island residents' front door and car windshield, authorities said Thursday.

The boy knocked on the two Roosvelt residents' front door around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Nassau County police said.

When the residents refused to open the door, as they didn't know the boy, he picked up a brick and threw it at their Honda CRV's windshield several times, police said.

The residents called 911 after the boy hurled the same brick at their front door, according to police. Two officers who responded to the home saw the boy running into a nearby backyard, police said.

When the boy saw the officers, he charged at them with a knife over his head and tried to stab them, according to police. The struggle that ensued left one of the officers with a cut to his finger that required stitches, police said.

The boy dropped his knife after one of the officers used his "electronic control device," according to police.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, menacing a police officer, criminal mischief and resisting arrest, police said.

Police didn't release the boy's name or age. He was expected to appear in court in Mineola on Thursday.
