RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — Bodycam footage from a New Jersey police officer shows a dramatic rescue of a man from a burning car on Saturday.

The 55-year-old Fort Lee man, Christopher Vagonne, had an electrical malfunction in his Honda Accord which ignited while he was in front of a Mavis Discount Tire on Route 46 in Ridgefield Park around 2 a.m., police said.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that the driver was unable to get out of his vehicle.
That’s when Sgt. Nicholas Triano got a Halligan bar and smashed the driver’s side window, according to the police chief.

Two other officers, Anthony D'Elia and Nicholas D'Alto, tried to help Triano try to get Vagnone out through the window but the blaze was preventing them from getting too close.
Fire extinguishers were used to ease the flames so Triano could hoist Vagnone out. He was eventually pulled to safety and given CPR by the officers as firefighters put out the fire.
Vagnone was released to a family member at the scene and was doing okay, officials said.
